Service Description
Course Overview: Experience New Zealand’s most spectacular alpine flying with Para Clinics’ XC Guiding Weeks — a multi-day paragliding experience designed for pilots wanting to explore, learn, and develop in some of the world’s most scenic and dynamic cross-country terrain. Based around the Wānaka–Queenstown region, our guiding focuses on understanding weather, route planning, and improving your flying decisions in real alpine conditions. We can tailor and customise your week to meet your goals, skill level, and the weather opportunities available during your stay. What’s Included • Daily weather analysis and site selection • Launch and route guidance from experienced local instructors • Flight planning, mentoring, and in-air guidance (where possible) • Retrieve coordination and daily debriefs • Optional theory, mindset, or weather sessions on non-flyable days Pilot Requirements • Intermediate rating (PG2 or equivalent) • Competent in independent take-offs and landings • Own certified equipment and reserve parachute Typical Week • 5 flying days (weather dependent) • Explore key XC sites such as Treble Cone, Coronet Peak, and Cardrona • Learn to analyse local weather systems, identify trigger points, and read terrain effectively • Develop confidence and decision-making in real Southern Alps conditions Pricing • $1650 NZD per pilot for full 5-day guiding week • Minimum of 2 pilots recommended for XC guiding weeks • Maximum of 4 pilots per guide — larger groups will require an additional guide and vehicle (which we can arrange) Accommodation and meals are not included, but we can recommend a range of local options to suit your budget and travel style. Season The main flying season runs from October to April. Spring (Oct–Nov) can bring stronger, more changeable conditions, while December to February usually offer the most consistent and settled months for XC flying. Cancellation Policy
Para Clinics – Multi-Day XC Guiding Week Policy Booking & Payment A valid credit or debit card is required to secure your booking. Pricing for the guided week is per pilot, as outlined on our website. Cancellation & Rescheduling All sessions are non-refundable. You may reschedule your booking with at least 48 hours’ notice, subject to availability. Weather Flexibility Please ensure you are weather-flexible — XC guiding depends on conditions, and bookings are made for the week ahead. Confirming your booking means you are available and committed to flying on the scheduled day(s) to maintain a high-quality, focused training experience for all participants.
