Service Description

Duration: 1–2 hours Location: Southern Lakes Region, New Zealand Level: All pilots – ideal for new, progressing, or curious pilots seeking deeper understanding Course Overview: The Tandem XC Flight offers a unique and powerful learning opportunity: fly with an experienced instructor behind you, guiding and demonstrating in real-time. You’ll feel every input, see every movement, and directly experience how an expert manages the wing in real conditions. Whether you're learning active flying, thermalling, or training for XC flight, this format is a fast-track to skill and confidence. It’s also an ideal way to fly when the conditions are too strong for solo work—or when you want to push into something new without the solo stress. What You’ll Experience: Pre-Flight Briefing: Goal-setting, theory overview, and what to expect In-Flight Instruction: See and feel the instructor’s inputs while getting coached through your own Hands-On Learning: Practice brake control, weight shift, pitch management, turns, energy control, and collapses (if appropriate) Post-Flight Debrief: Talk through what you experienced, learned, and how to apply it to your solo flying Optional: Tandem XC Experience Looking to take it further? This session can be tailored into a Tandem XC flight—a perfect format to experience thermal flying, transitions, and real XC decision-making from the best seat in the sky. Learn route planning, air reading, glider control, and pilot mindset as we fly cross-country together with real-time coaching and full debrief. Common Learning Goals: - Active flying & collapse prevention - Energy management & dynamic control - Thermal technique or initial acro exposure - Strong wind or high-pressure confidence - XC decision-making (in tandem XC format) Who It’s For: ✔ New pilots wanting to bridge the gap between theory and solo execution ✔ Returning pilots rebuilding confidence ✔ Intermediate pilots wanting to learn maneuvers, thermalling, or XC ✔ Anyone curious about how expert pilots fly and think in real-time This session is scheduled based on weather during your selected week. We'll confirm the best day closer to the time.
