Service Description

Duration: 1–2 days Level: Intermediate to advanced skiers and pilots Prerequisites: Confident skiing ability on all terrains; prior paragliding or speed wing experience recommended but not mandatory. Must hold a current NZHGPA Speed Wing Rating. Course Overview: Speed Riding is an exhilarating hybrid sport that blends skiing and speed flying, letting you glide effortlessly between snow and air. This introductory course teaches you how to combine your skiing skills with the thrill of flying a speed wing—opening up completely new ways to explore mountain terrain with speed, style, and control. Over 1–2 days, you’ll learn the essential techniques to safely launch, fly, and land on skis, transitioning smoothly between skiing and flying. Whether you’re carving turns on snow or floating through the air, this course builds your confidence and skill to enjoy the dynamic flow of speed riding. What You’ll Learn: - Basics of speed riding equipment and setup - Launch and landing techniques on skis - How to control a speed wing while skiing on varied terrain - Transitioning safely between skiing and flying - Weather and terrain considerations unique to speed riding - Safety protocols and emergency procedures for combined ski-flying - Techniques to maximise speed, efficiency, and fun Course Structure: Theory Session: Introduction to speed riding principles, gear overview, and safety Practical Training: Ground handling and short flights on skis, progressing to full runs On-Slope Coaching: Hands-on instruction to improve technique in skiing and flying transitions Debrief: Video feedback and personalised coaching to accelerate learning Who This Course Is For: ✔ Confident skiers comfortable on all terrain types ✔ Adventure seekers ready to explore the mountains in a new way ✔ Anyone wanting a safe, structured introduction to speed riding Why Take This Course?
