Service Description
Duration: 3-5 hours (weather-dependent) Level: Advanced, current pilots with solid thermalling and active flying skills Course Overview: Ready to push your boundaries, explore new lines, or simply fly further with the confidence of experienced guidance? Guided Cross-Country Paragliding is designed for advanced pilots who want to stretch their cross-country range, refine decision-making in the air, and fly deeper into New Zealand’s spectacular terrain—with the support of a coach flying alongside or nearby. This isn’t a traditional lesson—it’s a collaborative mission. You take the lead while we help you set clear flight objectives, assess the day’s potential, and offer in-air guidance when needed. Whether your goal is to tag a new turnpoint, improve your efficiency, or just sharpen your XC mindset, this is your opportunity to explore with intention. What You’ll Experience: Morning Briefing: In-depth weather and site analysis, route options, and safety planning Flight Planning: Define realistic yet progressive XC goals based on your level and the conditions In-Flight Support: Coaching on transitions, climbs, and route choices via radio (as agreed) Pilot-Led Approach: You make the decisions—we’re there to advise, observe, and support Debrief: Review track logs, decision points, and lessons from the flight to consolidate learning Key Focus Areas: Optimising your line choice, transitions, and thermal strategy Building confidence to lead out, commit, and fly independently Reading terrain and conditions in real time Managing risk while expanding your XC comfort zone Mentorship and insights from a guide with deep local knowledge Who It’s For: Experienced pilots already comfortable flying XC solo who want to: ✔ Explore further than before ✔ Gain new insight from a seasoned local pilot ✔ Boost their confidence in decision-making ✔ Fly more intentionally and grow their personal bests This session is not suitable for low-airtime or thermalling-inexperienced pilots. You should be confident launching and landing in varied alpine conditions and managing your own safety in the air. This session is scheduled based on weather during your selected week.
